What Do I Need to Get a Bail Bond?

What do I need to get a bail bond?

The bail bond process may sound difficult or confusing, but it doesn’t have to be. The media and the entertainment industry don’t always show bail agent’s the best of light: Unfortunately, this creates a skewed perspective for many people, who could get help they desperately need, from people who are willing to help. Here at 1st Choice Bail Bonds, we are dedicated to helping people when they need it most: In the hours after they get the devastating news that a loved one has been arrested and is sitting in jail. In today’s blog post, we’re going to answer a common question: What do I need to get a bail bond?

Give Us a Call

The first step is to give one of our experienced bail agents a call. We are available 24/7, because we know you need help right when you get the news – which isn’t always during normal business hours. During this call, we’ll need some basic information to get the bail process started:

  • Where Your Loved One is Being Held (which jail)
  • How Long They Have Been Detained
  • What Charges they Face
  • How Long They Have Lived in Their Current Residence
  • Does the Detainee Work?

These questions will help us assess the situation, and how to best help your friend. It will also provide us with the information necessary to begin the process of obtaining their release.

 The Legal Stuff

If you decide to work with us, you’ll need to sign the bail bond documents (a Bail Bond Application, a Bail Indemnity Agreement, and a receipt). This can be done in person, by fax, or by email. The bail bond fee must also be paid at this time.

Getting Out of Jail

Once the paperwork is done, one of our bail agents will go to the appropriate court, and post the bail bond. The entire process shouldn’t take long – it can take 1 to 2 hours once the defendant has been completely booked (we cannot start until this is complete).
